Critique of J. Kim's "P is not equal to NP by Modus Tollens"

چکیده
This paper is a critique of version three of Joonmo Kim’s paper entitled “P 6= NP by Modus Tollens.” After summarizing Kim’s proof, we note that the logic that Kim uses is inconsistent, which provides evidence that the proof is invalid. To show this, we will consider two reasonable interpretations of Kim’s definitions, and show that “P 6= NP” does not seem to follow in an obvious way using any of them.

P is not equal to NP by Modus Tollens
An artificially designed Turing Machine algorithm Mo generates the instances of the satisfiability problem, and check their satisfiability. Under the assumption P = NP , we show that Mo has a certain property, which, without the assumption, Mo does not have. This leads to P 6= NP by
متن کاملA fuzzy reasoning method based on compensating operation and its application to fuzzy systems
In this paper, we present a new fuzzy reasoning method based on the compensating fuzzy reasoning (CFR). Its basicidea is to obtain a new fuzzy reasoning result by moving and deforming the consequent fuzzy set on the basis of themoving, deformation, and moving-deformation operations between the antecedent fuzzy set and observation information.Experimental results on real-world data sets show tha...
متن کاملModus Tollens Probabilized
We establish a probabilized version of modus tollens, deriving from p(E jH)1⁄4 a and p( E)1⁄4 b the best possible bounds on p( H). In particular, we show that p( H)! 1 as a, b ! 1, and also as a, b ! 0.
متن کاملOn the joint verification of Modus Ponens and Modus Tollens in fuzzy logic
This paper deals with the joint verification of the inequalities of Modus Ponens and Modus Tollens in Fuzzy Logic. Although the case of Modus Ponens was partially considered before, the case of Modus Tollens and the joint satisfaction of both inequalities are studied by the first time. The cases of R-implications, Simplications, Q-implications and MamdaniLarsen implications are separatedly cons...
متن کاملOn MPT-implication functions for Fuzzy Logic
This paper deals with numerical functions able to functionally express operators defined as , and verifying either Modus Ponens or Modus Tollens, or both. The concrete goal of the paper is to search for continuous t-norms and strong-negation functions for which it is either (Modus Ponens), or (Modus Tollens), or both, for all in and a given . Functions are taken among those in the most usual fa...
